Communication finer points the untrained eye can miss
Communication can get complicated. There are so many elements to consider, like message clarity, audience and structure. At Imagine, we’re here to help you ask (and answer) questions that will guide you to your communication goals.

For example, ask yourself:

What is my core message?
Simple is better, especially in the communication climate we experience daily. Although being clever is tempting, there are times when it can muddle the core message. Have you ever loved a Super Bowl commercial but immediately forgot what the product was? Marketing professionals can help you identify exactly what you want to say.

Who is my target audience?
Understanding your audience is important. People who don’t do this for a living often focus on features rather than benefits. Don’t just tell your audience that your product or service is great, tell them why it matters to them. It's essential to always have empathy for consumer habits and avoid including anything that doesn’t have value.

What kind of structure and design best suits my message?
There is a written and visual hierarchy that matters when building a message with words and design elements. Headlines, establishing key takeaways and calls to action, are imperative. In design, you need to consider contrast, balance, content, spacing, color and typography to convey your message in the best way possible. Another big thing to consider is the consistency of past, present and future messaging. If this seems overwhelming, don’t worry. We’re here to help.

When can you use expert assistance?
You hire a marketing professional for the same reasons you’d hire a lawyer: you want an expert to look at your message with a trained eye. It’s cliché, but it’s true that you only get one chance to make a first impression. For instance, I’ve often been told that my first drafts are long-winded. Once a team member gets a hold of my work, they trim the fat and elevate the quality of the writing. Even this post has gone through that process. Getting everything you want to say on paper and allowing an expert to sift through and identify the best of it is at the heart of what we do. This is how we elevate ideas and enhance strategies for our clients. You offer the vision; we offer the voice.
